Greetings Friend!
This blog represents my personal ramblings and perspectives on church history, theology, philosophy, and life in general.
Particularly this blog is a way to share my notes and thoughts as I progress through seminary. Currently I am enrolled at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School – one of the leading and largest evangelical seminaries. My program of study is a Master of Divinity with a research focus. The research focus is an intense program (longer than an M.A.) to prepare a graduate for further study and doctoral work. Church History is my particular research focus as I aspire to pursue a PhD in Church History. Ultimately, I plan to retire from my own line of work (Corporate Integrity, LLC) by the time I reach age 50 into teaching.
My current educational background includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Phoenix as well as a Juris Doctorate from the Oakbrook College of Law and Government Policy.
You may ask, why seminary? You have a business and law degree. You have a successful business and have established the term GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) as a recognized business term.
The answer is – the Lord’s leading. Initially I was in Bible College for an undergrad degree back in 1989 to 1991. I felt called to the ministry at that point. Events happened – my mom passed away, I got married to a wonderful woman, had children . . . needless to say things did not work as planned. Though God used this turn in my life to direct me into theological convictions I did not hold at the time. Instead I pursued a business career. Now the doors have opened for me to fulfill what I have long felt called to pursue!
The title of this blog is ‘So Great a Cloud’ from Hebrews 12:1. I have a particular passion for Church History. While this section of scripture is dealing with the heroes of the faith from the Old Testament, the cloud of witnesses has grown even more abundant over the past 2,000 years. My goal is to share particular thoughts on church history within this blog as I pursue a deep course of study in this area.
I appreciate your interactions, posts, comments, and questions as I journey through seminary.
